Case Study: The AI Writing Dilemma Grade: 10th Grade English Topic: Ethical Technology Use The Scenario Ms. Davis assigns her students a literary analysis essay on Romeo and Juliet. Students must explain how Shakespeare develops the theme of love and conflict using evidence from the play. Jordan uses an AI tool to generate an entire essay, changes a few words, and submits it as original work. Maya uses AI to help understand difficult passages but writes her own essay using her own ideas and textual evidence. When Ms. Davis reviews the assignments, she suspects Jordan used AI to complete the essay. She must decide how to address the situation while ensuring students understand the ethical use of technology. Discussion Questions Was Jordan's use of AI unethical? Why or why not? How was Maya's use of AI different from Jordan's? Is it fair for students who submit AI-generated essays to receive the same grades as students who write their own essays? What should Ms....

I visited the Robert F. Wagner Middle School website,  which was very well designed. Most of the website was dedicated to admissions and the school calendar. They also had parent and student resources, such as the handbook and access to ordering uniforms. Lastly, they had important information like the updated bell schedule and summer assignments for students.     I imagine that I will use technology to support my students and make their learning more fun while staying effective. To accomplish my professional responsibilities, there are multiple ways I can use online productivity tools to manage my classroom. For example, I could use GoGuardian to monitor my students as they do online work and keep them on task. I plan to use ClassDojo to communicate with students and their parents while keeping track of any behavioral issues. Lastly, I plan to use Google Classroom to keep my assignments and grades organized for students.      I think A...

One technology related standard for grade 10 computer science classes is SC.912.HS.3.2. This standard requires that students are capable of analyzing the digital footprint of individuals, communities, and cultures on social media platforms and determining how they are influenced by digital platforms. I feel as though I would not be able to properly implement this standard with my current knowledge. While I am familiar with digital footprints and their effect on the individual, I would not feel confident teaching students how they influence larger communities and cultures.     I searched for tool kits for 10th grade English classes. There are many useful resources on the CPALMS website I could use in the future. For example, there are a lot of case studies and texts that I could have my students read and answer questions about or discuss in class. There are also lesson plans for group projects that could be useful.     During my visit to the Techn...

Using blogger for this course is my first time blogging. I enjoy that it's an open space to post whatever I like, and I control whatever is added on here. It's nice to share my opinions and thoughts without any pressure. The only thing I don't really like is that I feel like I'm speaking into a void, but that is just because I'm not advertising my blog. During this process, I have learned how to better manage my own blogger profile by adding widgets and customizing posts. I have also thought a bit about what kind of information I want on the internet for my digital footprint.     My initial thoughts are against using artificial intelligence in the classroom. I have never been a fan of AI and I think it can be very damaging to the academic development of students. For example, if they are exposed to it, they will feel more comfortable using it. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but that often leads to them using it to complete their assignments without a...
